The pushing wasn't hard for me, it was actually great, because when I started fully pushing, the contraction pain actually went away. I remember asking why the pain was gone? I pushed and finally got to see her crown, I got to see all her dark hair. I didn't want to stop pushing because I wanted to see my baby.
Hannah "When we reached the birth center, my midwife checked my cervix and dilatation. To both my husband’s surprise and mine, she said I was fully dilated and my cervix was gone. What! I was hoping she said I was at least 6 centimeters. I decided it would be nice to get in a warm tub to ease my back pain. The tub was a little bit of heaven."
Cerise and Garrett When the pool was ready, I got in and completely relaxed. I didn’t have another contraction for at least 30 minutes, maybe longer. I had a few more contractions, but they were 10% of the pain I had experienced before getting in the pool. During those contractions Candace told me how to push with them to open myself up. She put the mirror in the pool so I could see the little sliver of baby’s head with each push.
Grace My labor was a total of 5 hours 45 minutes with about 15 minutes of pushing. It was completely natural and beautiful and I honestly can't wait to do it again. Just ignore all those people that tell you terrible birthing stories and know that it can happen exactly like you want. It doesn't always, but it certainly can (even in a hospital) and have faith in your body. It knows what to do and if your body is anything like mine, your body rocks!!
Taylor Marie I pushed for 45 minutes and then my daughter Taylor Marie made her appearance at 2:46 p.m. Taylor was beautiful!! Having them place her directly on my chest after she was born was an amazing feeling. My mom cut the cord because my husband didn't want to. It was very special for my mom to cut the cord of her first grandchild, and her daughter's, daughter. Thanks to the birth center, and my midwife I had a perfect experience that my husband and both my "mom's" got to share in.
Radha The contractions were increasing in intensity but I wasn't pushing yet. As I went through transition, I didn't feel the anxiety and loss of control that I had in my prior labours. I sprayed some rescue remedy into my mouth, lay on my side on the lounge suite & sang through each contraction. The singing substantially reduced the pain and helped me experience each contraction with ease.
Noah Aiden I lay down beside my husband and closed my eyes. Then - without warning - I felt a warm and almost sticky gush of liquid. My water had broken! But had it? My water never broke this early with Amber and when it did I was having a rush and was sitting on the loo (it was the only comfy place that I could be before getting into the pool). I pushed gently on my belly and more water came out. Yup - this was it!
Elliott If I have another baby, I will definitely plan for a drug free birth again. The whole experience was very intense, and while it was quite painful, there was something amazing about being in such a focused and immersed state of mind, that ended in something so beautiful. Every contraction was worth it, and I would do it all over in a heartbeat.
