Natural Childbirth Books

Being educated and prepared with these natural childbirth books is one of the easiest steps a mom can take to prepare for the birth of her child. As I keep saying throughout this website, being educated about natural childbirth is your best defense. Knowing what you and your body can do is very empowering. Making choices based on your reading and your heart will always steer you in the right direction.

The following books I think are the best out there. I personally kept the Dr. Sears Birth Book with me at all times during my pregnancy. I had pages dog-eared and highlighted and circled. I just bought another copy to use as reference for my second pregnancy. The Dr. Sears book was better than my childbirth class I have to say. If you do nothing else to prepare for the big day, I suggest you at least get this Dr. Sears book.

The Birth Book (Sears Parenting Library Series): Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth William and Martha Sears, pediatric specialists and the parents of seven children, detail the options available to today’s expectant parents in an up-to-date, factual, and unbiased fashion.

Husband-Coached Childbirth: The Bradley Method Of Natural Childbirth “…takes parents-to-be step-by-step through the prenatal stages and moment-by-moment through first- and second-stage labor and the actual birth.”

Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth “…based on the latest medical studies and literature, provides clear, concise information on tests, procedures, and treatments…covers cesareans, ultrasound, inducing labor, IVs, epidurals, episiotomies, midwives, & much more.”
