Third Month of Pregnancy

What's happening with baby?

third month pregnancy

By the third month, your baby is about three and a half inches long. All of the organs are now formed and the nose, eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and skin are formed. Even the teeth buds are formed at this point.  Almost half of the baby's size now is made up of the head.  During this month the bones begin to ossify and the baby even begins to swallow, make a fist, and move,  although you probably won't feel movement until about 20 weeks. Your baby now weighs about 1 ounce and is the size of a walnut. Toward the end of the month, the heartbeat can be picked up by a fetal doppler monitor and the sex organs are now recognizable.

What's happening with Ma Ma

At this point in your pregnancy, your uterus is about the size of a grapefruit. This is the stage of your pregnancy that periods of sickness may begin to lessen . Your body is getting used to the excess of hormones you are producing. This is also the time when your body is changing. Most women find this a tough time, because you don't actually LOOK pregnant just yet, you just look like you can't fit into your regular clothes! You aren't sure if your ready for maternity clothes or just your old sweats! Don't worry before long- you won't have a choice!  Go ahead and start shopping!

What should you be doing this month?

And to keep repeating, this month you must continue to drink lots of water. Be sure you keep up your healthy diet. Continue with your prenatal visits and, as always, keep those Kegels going!
