Keep in mind that the baby is completely safe under the water..only because they are only used to breathing in water for nine months and the oxygen that they receive is from the umbilical cord. Once the head rises up from the water and the umbilical cord is cut the baby would no longer have that ability to breath under the water as it did prior. Quite amazing indeed! I too had a water birth but I was at home in a bumper pool..same affect though my daughter came out herself I never pushed I just exhaled! Very powerful experience for the both of us!
