Wow

by Jaime V.
(Manassas, VA, USA)

I gave birth to my first child roughly six months ago. My birth plan was to simply go with the flow but once I was in active labor I definitely asked for the epidural. I ended up having a c-section because of failure to progress. I clenched my hands and held my breath during a great deal of this video, because the pain of my contractions is still fairly fresh in my mind.
I've never seen a real natural birth before, or any live birth for that matter. I have to applaud any woman who can stay calm and work through her pain to have a natural childbirth, but I do think it should be a personal choice and no matter what we choose, others should respect our decision.

Example that epidurals can lead to c-sections

Thanks for your comments!
It is true that epidural use during birth increases your chance of surgical intervention.
The most important thing to do before you give birth is to educate yourself about your choices and possible complications.
For women wanting a natural childbirth, preparing mentally and educating yourself about childbirth is the best way you can achieve a natural birth.
